Knights outpace Colts 5-2

The London Knights earned their fifth straight win after defeating the Barrie Colts 5-2 on Thursday.

Ryan Merkley scored 12:40 into the first period to kick things off for London, but the Colts tied things up by scoring in the first half of the second. Matvey Guskov regained London's lead by scoring just over 10 minutes into the frame, but again Barrie responded with a goal of their own to make it 2-2 heading into the third.

The Knights were in the lead again 7:12 into the final period thanks to a goal from Alec Regula and Merkley added another just over a minute after. Liam Foudy capped off the win for London by scoring a goal with just over three minutes left in the game.

Knights goaltender Brett Brochu made 14 saves out of 16 shots on net.

The Knights are on the road on Saturday to face off against the Saginaw Spirit at 7:05 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
