IKEA to close Windsor and London pickup locations

IKEA Canada is closing its Pick-Up and Order Points throughout Ontario, including stores in Windsor and London.

A statement from the company states the concept was part of a "global test" to determine how customers like to shop.

"Now the global test has concluded and IKEA Canada has made the decision to close its existing Pick-up and Order Point units – including Kitchener, London, St. Catharines, Whitby and Windsor, effective January 29, 2020," said the statement from IKEA Canada.

At the time the Windsor location opened in April 2016, it employed 31 people. The company says it is committed to supporting its employees.

"We will work with every co-worker to find the best option for them, including support to find a new position at IKEA Canada in one of our store or distribution units," said the statement from IKEA Canada.

The last day to order delivery to the Pick-up and Order Point is January 15, 2020. Customers will not be able to pick up their orders past January 29, 2020.
