Charges laid after man tries to grab cop's gun

A 36-year-old St. Thomas man is accused of threatening and assaulting a police officer, and trying to grab an officer's gun during an arrest earlier this week.

St. Thomas police were called about a man trespassing at a home on Wellington Street around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. When officers tried to talk the man into leaving the property he became belligerent and allegedly began making death threats.

As the man was being arrested he became physically violent and lunged for one of the officer's guns, police allege.

Joseph Kilbourne, 36, of St. Thomas is charged with disarming a police officer, assaulting police, uttering threats, trespassing, and breach of release conditions.
