Messy commute possible on Thursday

An approaching weather system could make for a tricky drive to work on Thursday morning.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of southwestern Ontario, including London, Middlesex County, Elgin County, and Oxford County. It said snow and ice pellets are expected to start falling on Wednesday night and continue into Thursday. Snowfall amounts are expected to be around five centimetres. There is also the risk of freezing rain.

"A low from Texas is expected to move towards Southern and Eastern Ontario, probably following a track just south of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario Thursday," the weather agency said.

Environment Canada said there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact track of the system.
