London man arrested for violent assault

London police have arrested a man in connection with a violent assault in the city's east end.

Gregory William Vanalstine, 35, was arrested on Thursday.

On the evening of January 24, multiple officers were called to an address in the area of Hamilton Road and Rectory Street. Upon arrival, police located a victim who was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A warrant was issued for Vanalstine's arrest the following day.

Vanalstine is charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault and failing to comply with a release order. He is scheduled to appear in London court on Friday in relation to the charges.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
