Two dead in head-on crash in Thames Centre

A man and a woman have died following a two-vehicle crash near Putnam.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the two vehicles collided head-on after one crossed the centre line on Hamilton Road east of Putnam Road, at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to police, the victims of the fatal crash were 77-year-old Rachelle Plowright of Dorchester, who was driving the westbound vehicle, and 39-year-old Michael Archer of Woodstock, who was driving the eastbound vehicle.

The OPP closed Hamilton Road between Robinson Road and Five Points Line for most of the evening to conduct an investigation. The road was reopened shortly before 11:30 p.m.

No further information has been released at this time.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
