St. Thomas police clock vehicle doing three times the speed limit

A 41-year-old West Lorne man has been charged with stunt driving after police stopped a vehicle doing three times the posted speed limit in St. Thomas.

It was around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday when St. Thomas police spotted two vehicles that appeared to be racing in the eastbound lanes on Talbot Street. Officers were able to stop the one vehicle, while the other took off.

Police radar showed the vehicle was doing more than 154 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone prior to being pulled over, police said.

The driver was arrested without incident. His driver's licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for seven days.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
