St. Thomas police searching for driver of stolen vehicle

St. Thomas police are looking for a suspect after the driver of a stolen vehicle ran from officers over the weekend.

Police spotted the SUV, which had been reported stolen from London, parked on Elizabeth Street around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Officers attempted to stop three people who were seen getting into the SUV before it fled the area.

The SUV was found shortly after abandoned a few blocks away on King Street.

Two of the passengers were later arrested, police said.

An arrest warrant for the driver of the vehicle has since been issued. Kevin George Ashford is wanted on charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, and driving while under suspension.
