Snow, blowing snow leads to bus cancellations

The tail-end of a winter storm that moved into the region Wednesday has led to Thursday school bus cancellations.

MyBigYellowBus.ca announced just after 6 a.m. that school purpose vehicles across Middlesex, Elgin, and Oxford County, as well as the Red Zone, are cancelled.  A full list of the cancellations can be found by clicking here.

So far, buses are scheduled to begin on time in London.

Roads across the region are snow-covered, slushy, and very slick in spots following Wednesday's snowfall. Environment Canada has London, Middlesex County, and Oxford County under a blowing snow advisory.

The national weather agency is warning drivers strong westerly to northwesterly winds will kick up the fresh snow reducing visibility on the roads. In open areas visibility could be reduced to less than a few hundred metres.

Drivers are advised to slow down, turn on vehicle headlights, and maintain a safe following distance.
