Cold front brings windy conditions Tuesday

Tuesday is shaping up to be a cold, blustery day across parts of southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for London-Middlesex, Oxford County, Elgin County, and Sarnia-Lambton advising of strong wind gusts throughout the day.

According to the national weather agency, a cold front packing arctic air passed through the area early Tuesday morning, bringing northwest winds gusts of 70 km/h in its wake. The strong winds, which could gust up to 80 km/h at times, will continue into Tuesday evening before dying down.

The winds could lead to power outages, Environment Canada said.

The forecast for Tuesday also calls for a 60 per cent chance of flurries with the temperature expected to be steady around 2 C.
