Man charged after rifle, ammunition seized

A man is facing several charges after officers seized a rifle and ammunition from a home in the east end.

London police officers with the Guns and Drugs Section, along with members of the Emergency Response Unit, searched a home on Marconi Boulevard on Thursday.

They seized a bolt action rifle with a modified stock, 52 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition, and a 12 gauge shotgun shell.

A 24-year-old London man is charged with possession of a firearm without having a licence, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a regulated firearm, three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, breach of probation, and failing to comply with a release order.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
