Police seeking witnesses to fatal motorcycle crash

Police in St. Thomas are looking for witnesses to a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 60-year-old motorcyclist over the long weekend.

Darcy Krauza of Courtright was riding his motorcycle on Sunset Drive, just south of Wilson Avenue around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday when an SUV, headed in the opposite direction, crossed over the centre line and collided with his bike. Krauza was pronounced dead in hospital. His 22-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old St. Thomas woman, was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

On Wednesday, police made an appeal for witnesses to the crash to come forward. They are especially interested in speaking with those who may have seen the crash from a nearby gas station.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Helaine Hindley at 519-631-1224 ext. 4311 or email hhindley@stps.on.ca.
