Molotov cocktails thrown at Port Rowan home

Police are investigating after a Port Rowan resident was awakened by the sound of Molotov cocktails bursting against the side of their home.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the resident woke up to a loud bang after the incendiary devices were thrown at their Church Street home at around 3 a.m. on Sunday. One of the Molotov cocktails set fire to the side of the home but the blaze ultimately extinguished itself.

The homeowner called police after finding the damage and told officers that a vehicle with a loud muffler fled from the area on Front Road in an unknown direction.

Police are asking anyone in the area who may have captured the vehicle or a suspect on security surveillance footage to contact the OPP.

Anyone with other information regarding this incident is also asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
