Man arrested for following young girl

A London man has been arrested after police were contacted about a suspicious person in a southwest end neighbourhood.

Police say they received a complaint on May 23 regarding an unknown male who was observed watching and allegedly following a school-aged girl. The complainant told officers that the man was seen driving a black, Toyota Matrix on several occasions between March and May of this year.

Following an investigation by the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section, 44-year-old Johannes Wilhelmus Laning has been arrested and charged with one count of criminal harassment contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He will remain in custody pending a court appearance on Monday.
