City day camps cancelled

Parents who had planned on having their kids take part in City of London day camps this summer are going to have to make other arrangements.

The city announced Monday afternoon that its Summer Day Camp programming has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The city recognizes the important role that summer day camps play for families in London," a news release issued by the city said. "The city will continue to monitor orders from the Province and guidance from the Middlesex-London Health Unit and will work to develop a modified summer day camp program, based on the restrictions and health precautions in place, when it is possible to do so. When an alternate program is developed, information will be shared about the program, as well as about opportunities for registration."

Monday's announcement also noted that all June recreation programs, PA Day camps, leadership programs, and community centre rentals are cancelled.

Refunds are being made available.

Also, bookings of sports fields throughout the month of June have been cancelled and, at this time, no new bookings are being allowed.
