Man tracks down father's stolen truck, confronts thief

A Woodstock man wasn't going to take the theft of his father's pickup truck lying down.

According to Woodstock police, a 2009 Ford F150 Platinum edition pickup was stolen from a Curries Road home around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The owner's son immediately launched a search for the vehicle, tracking it to the Walmart parking lot on Norwich Avenue.

The thief was still inside the truck when the owner's son confronted and held him until police arrived.

A search of the thief also turned up more than $4,000 worth of methamphetamines and hydromorphone.

A 32-year-old Burford man has since been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of a Schedule I and Schedule IV substance for the purpose of trafficking.
