UPDATE: Police investigating serious assault

London police now say that an assault in Old South on the weekend was the work of one person, not five.

Police were called around 4:30 a.m. Saturday after the 20-year-old male victim was walking with a woman in the area of 266 High St. after leaving a nearby party. A vehicle with five people inside pulled up, and one of the people got out and assaulted the victim. He then got back in the vehicle and it took off.

"While there were multiple people inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the assault, the 20-year-old male victim was assaulted by one man," police said.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since been released.

Police are hoping the public can help identify the suspect and are asking people in the area who have surveillance systems to check their footage.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
