Driver charged after cyclist hit

Drivers are again being reminded to watch for cyclists after a woman was hit in Strathroy while riding her bike.

Strathroy-Caradoc police say the woman was riding westbound on Albert Street around 8 a.m. Thursday when a driver of a van turned into her path at the intersection of Albert and Victoria Streets. The cyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital.

The van driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.

"Police are reminding all road users to be aware of their surroundings, especially with the increase in use of bicycles sharing our roadways," police said.
