Two seriously injured in motorcycle crash near Simcoe

The driver and passenger of a motorcycle had to be airlifted to hospital over the weekend following a crash southwest of Simcoe.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Saturday shortly before 11:30 a.m., a van that was travelling west on St John's Road West in Norfolk County entered the intersection at Turkey Point Road and collided with a southbound motorcycle.

The driver and the passenger on the motorcycle, a 58-year-old from Ayr and a 48-year-old from North Dumfries Township, were both ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The pair suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to a hospitals in the London and Hamilton areas.

The 73-year-old driver of the van was not injured and has been charged with failing to stop for a stop sign.

Turkey Point Road at St John's Road West was closed to traffic for around five hours following the collision while officers conducted an investigation.
