Police seek suspect in violent mugging

Police are looking to identify a suspect after an elderly man was assaulted during a mugging in west London.

The London Police Service said on July 22 at around 8:15 p.m., a 72-year-old man was using an ATM in the area of Oxford Street West and Platt’s Lane when a man sprayed him with a noxious substance. The victim was ordered to lay on the ground by his attacker and was then struck with an unknown object.

The attacker stole the man's wallet, cellphone and a quantity of cash before running from the scene.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male. He was last seen wearing a grey sweater, dark coloured toque, and a white and black facemask. Police have also released photos of the suspect, which can be seen above and below.
