Child nearly abducted from Elgin County home

Police in Elgin County are looking for a suspect after a man attempted to abduct a four-year-old boy from his front porch.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Wednesday at around 4 p.m., the boy was playing alone on the porch of his home on Best Line in Bayham Township when a vehicle stopped in front of the home.

A man exited the vehicle, approached the child, and attempted to take him by the hand. The boy immediately ran inside and told his mother what had happened.

The vehicle, described as a white four-door sedan with tinted windows, was last seen pulling away from the home.

The suspect is described as wearing shorts and possibly sandals, with no shirt. He had a tattoo on one of his arms.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
