Man charged in convenience store robbery

A London man is facing charges after a convenience store was robbed on Monday.

According to London police, a man went into a store at 487 Hamilton Rd. around 3:20 a.m. Monday armed with what appeared to be a gun. He took several items from the store and took off. The cashier wasn't hurt.

Police were called and made an arrest nearby. Officers seized an airsoft style gun.

A 24-year-old man is charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and using a firearm while attempting to commit an offence.

He is to appear in court later this month.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
