Woodstock man arrested for pointing firearm in public

Police in Woodstock responded to a weapons incident on Dundas Street around 11 a.m. Friday.

Officers quickly responded after they received a call regarding a male who allegedly held a gun in front of a downtown business. When police arrived, they were told the suspect had fled on foot and entered a nearby residence on Perry Street.

Officers from the Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations Bureau, Canine Containment, and Drugs and Intelligence units worked to safely arrest the man. Police say the incident is isolated, and no other suspects are involved.

A 31-year-old Woodstock man was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a probation order. The man, whose name has not been released was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
