'Big Spin' leads to $250K for London retiree

A London woman is $250,000 richer after a random lottery ticket purchase.

Lise Scarrow, 66, collected her cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. She won the chance to spin the "Big Spin" Wheel to determine her prize money after buying a $5 Big Spin scratch ticket.

She said it's not a game she regularly plays, but the decision to buy a ticket paid off.

“This was a random purchase,” she said. “The cashier scanned my ticket and I watched the Big Spin message come up on the Customer Display Unit. I wasn’t overwhelmed or excited at the time because I didn’t believe it!”

The married mother of three hasn't decided yet how she'll spend her winnings.

“I’m still letting it sink in,” she said. “It’s overwhelming.”
