Two Strathroy seniors die after vehicle found submerged in marina

Two seniors from Strathroy have been pronounced dead after their vehicle was found submerged in the water in Kincardine.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the vehicle entered the water at the marina along Station Beach Road on Thursday. Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 1:25 p.m. and found the vehicle completely submerged.

William Luinstra, 86, and Rennie Feddema, 82, both of Strathroy, were recovered from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital where they were both pronounced dead.

Access to the beach in the area was restricted while emergency crews were at the scene, however, it has since been reopened to the public.

The OPP, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, is investigating the deaths.
