Teen charged after fire set in restaurant washroom

A 17-year-old is facing arson charges after a fire was set inside a fast food restaurant washroom over the weekend.

Emergency crews were called about the blaze to the McDonald's at 1950 Dundas St. E, near Clarke Road around 6:50 p.m. on Saturday. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and no one was hurt.

The fire, which caused approximately $5,000 damage, was deemed suspicious.

London police arrested a suspect nearby in relation to the fire.

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named due to their age, is charged with one count of arson with disregard for human life. The accused will appear in court on December 14.
