Emergency rail repairs close section of Richmond St.

Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians whose commute takes them through the downtown along Richmond Street will have to find a new route for the next two days.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, Richmond between Piccadilly and Mill streets will be closed for emergency rail repairs.

CP Rail crews will be working to repair a broken rail and replace the damaged crossing surface.

The closure is expected to last until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

A detour route is being set up for drivers - southbound onto Oxford Street East and then Waterloo Street and northbound onto Central Avenue, then Waterloo Street.

Cyclists and pedestrians can get around the rail work by using Piccadilly Street, Ann Street or George Street.
