Woodstock police seize more than $110K worth of drugs

Two people are facing drug charges after a three month investigation by Woodstock police turned up more than $110,000 worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cannabis.

Officers with the police service's drugs and intelligence unit launched an investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the city in July.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, police searched an address and seized red, purple, and white fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cannabis plants with a combined street value of $110,660. More than $5,000 worth of stolen property and $8,105 in cash was also found during the search.

A man and woman, both 34, were arrested.

They have been charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance (methamphetamine, opioid) for the purpose of trafficking, possession of more than four cannabis plants, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The man is additionally charged with failure to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
