Crash leads to major backups on the 401 in London

Drivers whose commute takes them along Highway 401 in London were met with major delays Thursday morning.

A collision shutdown the eastbound lanes of the highway for nearly two hours.

Provincial police tweeted that the crash had led to the closure of all three eastbound lanes shortly after 5:30 a.m. They did not provide any additional details, including how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was hurt.

Traffic quickly backed up for several kilometres. Secondary collisions were also reported in the eastbound lanes at Highway 402 and at Highbury Ave.

All lanes were reopened around 7:15 a.m.
