Two charged after citizen spots men armed with a gun

Charges have been laid after citizens reported seeing two men holding a gun in a parked truck.

According to police, they were contacted around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday by citizens who reported seeing two men sitting in a truck in a parking lot on Dundas Street near Richmond Street. The men were said to be in possession of a long gun.

Police responded to the scene and closed off a portion of Dundas street. Officers saw one of the men walking toward a nearby hotel, while the other man was still in the truck. Officers arrested the man in the truck around 2:50 p.m., while the other man was arrested a short time later.

A search of the truck turned up a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a prohibited knife, 21 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 44 Dilaudid pills.

Michael Gary Ysebert, 37, and Shane Douglas Alvin Kechego, 48, both of London are charged with occupying a vehicle with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm contrary to a probation order, carrying a concealed weapon, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of a restricted firearm without a licence.

Ysebert is also charged with breach of probation and two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
