Lucan resident killed in crash north of London

A single-vehicle crash north of Ailsa Craig has claimed the life of a 23-year-old.

Middlesex OPP were called to the collision on Maguire Road near Ausable Drive in North Middlesex around 10:20 p.m. on Monday. Investigators determined a pickup truck was heading north on Maguire when it veered off the road and into the west ditch, where it collided with a tree.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck, a 23-year-old from Lucan Biddulph Township, was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased has not been released.

The crash kept a section of Maguire closed for roughly four hours. It was reopened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, police said.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
