North London apartment fire causes $50K damage

No one was hurt, but an apartment building in north London had to be evacuated after fire broke out Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the building at 621 Kipps Lane just after 2 p.m.

The blaze was contained to a sixth floor unit. Smoke did fill the hallway and had to be ventilated out before residents were allowed back inside around 4 p.m.

There were no injuries, according to the London Fire Department.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

The cause of the fire has not been released.
