One person hospitalized, dog rescued from townhouse fire

London fire officials are investigating after a dog had to be rescued from a townhouse blaze, which also sent one person to hospital.

The London Fire Department first reported the blaze on Southdale Road West near Notre Dame Drive shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

A dog was rescued from the townhouse by firefighters who had to perform CPR to resuscitate the animal. The dog is expected to survive, fire officials said.

A male also had to be taken to hospital by EMS as a result of the fire. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.

A fire investigator will be attending the scene to determine the origin and cause of the blaze.

Fire officials peg the initial damage estimate at $150,000.
