Two charged after incident involving machete

Charges have been laid after Strathroy Caradoc police were called to a housing complex about a machete-wielding man.

Residents told police a man, armed with the large knife, was banging on the front door of one of the units at the Head Street complex around 1:20 p.m. on Monday.

Officers arrived and arrested two men.

A machete was located in a nearby yard, police said.

There were no injuries reported.

A 35-year-old Strathroy man is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. A 39-year-old Rodney man is charged with four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order and failure to comply with a release order.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
