Arrest warrant issued for London assault suspect

An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect wanted in connection with an assault that left a man with serious injuries.

London police began investigating the November 21 attack after a man showed up to hospital with injuries described as serious, but non-life threatening.

As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old Robert James Ireland of London was charged by way of warrant on Thursday for assault causing bodily harm and failure to comply with a probation order.

Ireland is described as Indigenous, approximately 5’9”, with dark shaved hair, a heavy build, and tattoos on both arms.

Police are asking anyone who spots Ireland not to approach him but to call police at 519-661-5670, 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
