Local health units report three new deaths due to COVID-19

The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported two new deaths in the region linked to COVID-19.

Two women over the age of 80 passed away after contracting the virus. The area has now lost 95 people to COVID-19.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit also reported 61 new cases of the virus on Thursday.

In London and Middlesex County, there have now been 2,757 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March. Of those, 2,147 are considered recovered.

Southwestern Public Health reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, bringing the total in that region to 1,045 since March. Of those, 836 are considered recovered and 197 are active.

Southwestern Public Health is also reporting one new death linked to COVID-19. That brings the death toll in the region 12.

Provincial health officials are reporting 2,447 new cases of COVID-19 province-wide. There were 49 additional deaths reported bringing the total to 4,278.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
