Mix of snow, freezing rain, rain expected Wednesday

It will be a slippery day on the roads Wednesday as a system packing a mix of snow, freezing rain, ice pellets, and rain moves through the London region.

As of noon, Environment Canada had Oxford County still under a winter weather travel advisory. Similar advisories for Middlesex-London and Sarnia-Lambton were ended around 11:30a.m.

A band of heavy snow moved across parts of southwestern Ontario overnight dropping a few centimetres within an hour. That left roads, especially east of London, snow covered and icy.

Travel will be made even more difficult by the arrival of a wintry mix of freezing rain, snow, and ice pellets expected early Wednesday afternoon.

According to the national weather agency, the mixed precipitation will transition to rain as the temperature rises to 5 C.

Drivers are advised to slow down and allow extra time to get to their destination.
