Man charged in $200K heating, cooling business scam

A lengthy fraud investigation involving a Tillsonburg heating and cooling business has ended with charges being laid against a Richmond Hill man.

Oxford OPP received complaints about the heating ventilation and air conditioning business on North Street East between September 2018 and January 2020. Details surrounding the incident have not been released but police allege the frauds totalled $200,000.

Steve Joseph George Blondin, 53, of Richmond Hill is charged with three counts of fraud over $5,000 and fraud under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in Woodstock court in relation to the charges at a later date.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
