A dog is dead after Strathroy-Caradoc police allege it became aggressive with officers during a large drugs and weapons bust last week.
The bull mastiff mix dog was shot and killed by officers at the entrance of a home on Head Street North last Friday. Three adults and three young people were inside the house at the time.
Police were at the home as part of an investigation following the arrest of a 32-year-old man during a traffic stop. The man was a passenger in the vehicle stopped. A search of him turned up a replica pistol, a replica revolver, shotgun ammunition , brass knuckles, a butterfly knife, $400 worth of crack cocaine, and a quantity of fentanyl, police said.
A sawed-off shotgun, a replica pistol, ammunition, $11,000 worth of fentanyl and methamphetamine, two expandable batons, and throwing stars are among the items seized from the house.
A Strathroy man, 32, is charged with 20 offences including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on Thursday.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
