Missing Tillsonburg teens found in Calgary

Oxford County police reported two missing teenagers from Tillsonburg were found after they left the province to visit someone they met online.

Police say they received a call regarding the missing teens on Monday. The parents determined the two friends had been talking to an individual online when they decided to travel to Alberta to meet the unknown person.

With the help of the Calgary Police Service, the OPP confirmed the teens were located and are in the process of returning to Ontario.

"The OPP would also like to thank the Calgary Police Service for their assistance in bringing this investigation to a successful resolution," said Inspector Tony Hymers, Detachment Commander for the Oxford County OPP.

Following the incident, police are urging parents and caregivers to have conversations about online safety and the dangers of meeting strangers online.
