Collision closes eastbound 401, sends two to hospital

A collision involving a car and a transport truck Tuesday forced the closure of the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 east of London and sent two people to hospital.

First responders were called to the highway between Putnam Road and Elgin Road at around 11:40 a.m.

Police say that two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed until just after 2 p.m.

Police are reminding motorists to slow down in the snowy conditions. Environment Canada had issued a winter weather travel advisory Monday night for parts of southwestern Ontario, including London and Middlesex County.
