Western Fair vaccination clinic set to reopen next week

The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at London's Western Fair Agriplex is set to reopen next week.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit said healthcare workers who have been awaiting their second doses will begin to receive them starting Monday, as delivery of Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine to the facility is resuming.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Chris Mackie said it's encouraging to be able to reschedule second dose appointments at the Agriplex.

“I know that it has been stressful for frontline healthcare workers who have had second dose appointments rescheduled. It’s a relief to see vaccine arriving again.”

The health unit said all those whose second dose appointments were cancelled will be contacted directly to reschedule.

Operations at the Agriplex clinic were put on hold January 22 because a lack vaccine supply due to production challenges.

The health unit said since December 23, 10,477 doses of vaccine have been administered at the Agriplex vaccination clinic.

The health unit also said that between January 11 and January 29, 3,850 initial doses of vaccine were administered at long-term care homes and high-risk retirement homes -- efforts to administer second doses to residents in these settings began on February 1.
