Woodstock man hit by car during theft altercation

Woodstock police say a man is being treated for serious injuries following a dispute over a stolen cell phone.

Officers were called to the area of Henry Street around 10 p.m. Wednesday for a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Paramedics arrived, and the victim was taken to a London hospital for treatment.

According to police, the pedestrian had allegedly been tracking a stolen cellphone to the area of the driver who proceeded to hit the man with their vehicle. The accused then got out of the vehicle and assaulted the pedestrian.

A 44-year-old man from Blandford-Blenheim has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm, and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm.

The Woodstock Police Service is advising the community to contact police first regarding suspected crimes and thefts, and to not approach suspects.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
