Attempted murder charged laid in Ingersoll shooting

A 27-year-old Six Nations man is facing several charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting in Ingersoll.

The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police were called to an address on Thames Street on Sunday, where police say the owner of a pickup noticed a man in his vehicle. That led to a physical confrontation which saw the pickup owner get shot. It's alleged the suspect then took off in the pickup truck. The victim was taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The stolen vehicle was later involved in a collision at Cockshutt Road and Concession 2 of Townsend in Norfolk County. Police allege the suspect displayed a firearm and stole a white Dodge Ram pickup truck from a Good Samaritan that stopped to assist with the crash.

The stolen truck was later located on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. It had been destroyed by fire.

On Monday, police arrested Forest Reginald Whitlow. He is charged with attempted murder, two counts of robbery with a firearm, dangerous driving, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, and arson.

The accused is being held in custody and is set to appear in court Tuesday.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and further updates will be provided when available.
