Guns, fentanyl seized in bust

Five teens are facing charges after London police seized a shotgun, ammunition, and the deadly drug fentanyl in a series of raids Wednesday.

Officers searched homes on King Street, Marconi Boulevard, and Westminster Boulevard and seized a 12 gauge shotgun with pistol grip, six rounds of 12 gauge shotgun ammunition, seven rounds of 9 mm handgun ammunition, 17 rounds of .22 calibre ammunition, a 9 mm handgun magazine, a replica handgun, an expandable baton, 146 grams of suspected fentanyl, and $12,000 in cash.

A 16-year-old boy, 15-year-old boy, 19-year-old man, 19-year-old woman, and 18-year-old woman, all of London are each charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm other than restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

"The youths cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and the naming of the adults could potentially identify the youths charged, therefore their names are being withheld as well," police said in a news release issued Thursday.
