Weapons charges laid against London man

A London man was dealt a lengthy list of charges following a weapons investigation at an apartment building on Wharncliffe Road.

Police were called to 345 Wharncliffe Road North around 10 a.m. Thursday after a man was allegedly seen with a handgun in the waist of his pants. Officers attended the building complex and reviewed security footage to identify and confirm the unit the suspect had entered.

Officials say three people exited the apartment once the emergency response unit arrived, though one other remained inside.

Hours later, just before 5 p.m., investigators entered the unit and a suspect was arrested.

During a search, police seized a loaded handgun, a replica handgun, and 14 grams of suspected cocaine from the accused.

A 24-year-old man faces a dozen charges, 10 of which are weapons-related, along with breach of probation and possession of a Schedule I substance.

The man appeared in court on Friday in relation to the charges.
