Knife-wielding man charged with robbing hardware store

A 28-year-old London man is accused of robbing a hardware store and pulling a knife on a loss prevention officer.

London police say around 3:10 p.m. Monday, the loss prevention officer working at the Home Depot at 448 Clarke Road saw a man conceal a number of tools in a bag and leave the store without paying for the items.

It's alleged that when the loss prevention officer approached the man and identified himself, the man pulled out a knife and ran from the area. No injuries were reported.

Police were called in, and around 3:55 p.m., officers located a suspect in the garage of a residence on Admiral Drive. He was arrested without incident.

The suspect is charged with robbery with violence and is scheduled to appear in London court May 12.
