Man charged in flare gun incident near Old South

Charges have been laid against a London man after a flare gun was fired in a south-end parking lot.

Calls started coming into 911 just before midnight Wednesday about what sounded like gunshots being heard outside of an apartment building on Baseline Road West near Wharncliffe Road South.

Police were provided a description of the suspect by witnesses and were able to make an arrest. A flare gun and five rounds of ammunition were seized, police said.

A 65-year-old London man is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 31.
