Military vehicles to flood London-area for training exercise

Londoners need not panic if they see a long line of military vehicles rolling through the city this weekend.

The Canadian Armed Forces will conduct convoy training in the London and Woodstock areas on Saturday and Sunday. The training exercise will take Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Service Battalion on routes throughout the area, including onto Highway 401. There will also be activities around the Canadian Forces Reserve Barracks at 701 Oxford Street East.

Soldiers taking part in the convoy drill will stay in their vehicles, except to perform any required maintenance.

The training aims to maintain and further develop the skills of reservists in convoy operations, and to test discipline, safety and effectiveness while operating specific vehicles, the Canadian Armed Forces said.

The public is asked to use caution when approaching military vehicles being used in the training.
