Man charged for breaking into London school

Police say a man was arrested after being caught breaking into a school in east London.

Officers along with a police dog were called to Al-Taqwa Academy at Churchill Avenue and Dumont Street at around 12:45 a.m. Monday when an alarm was set off.

Once inside the school, a male suspect was located. Police say the man resisted arrest before he was finally apprehended.

During a search, officers seized a bag filled with various items belonging to the school, and a driver's license that had been reported stolen.

A 36-year-old London man has been charged with break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and resisting arrest.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on June 23.
